Pass the CompTIA SecurityX exam on your first attempt.

First, the naming. CASP+ became SecurityX when CompTIA moved it into its Xpert Series and dropped the plus. The role it certifies has not changed, but the exam has: the current code is CAS-005, and if a study resource still references CASP+ and the previous code, it is out of date. Check the code before you buy anything, including this course.

The refresh modernised the content substantially. Post-quantum cryptography is entirely new. AI threat modelling barely existed when the predecessor launched. Zero trust and secure access service edge moved from a passing mention to core architectural material, compliance-as-code arrived alongside secure pipelines, and the whole exam now assumes cloud-native and hybrid environments rather than traditional infrastructure. Objectives were consolidated, which made the exam shorter to describe and no easier to pass.

One honest note before you enroll. This exam includes performance-based questions — hands-on simulations where you configure, analyse or troubleshoot in a virtual environment. No question bank can replicate those, and any course claiming otherwise is misleading you. This course prepares the multiple-choice portion thoroughly and drills the reasoning the simulations demand, but you will need hands-on time alongside it.

What makes SecurityX genuinely hard is integration. A single question can put a compliance requirement, a budget constraint and a technical limitation in front of you at once and ask for the strongest option. The overwhelming majority of objectives are scenario-based. Memorising definitions does not survive that format.

How to use this course

Sit the first test cold to find your baseline. Read every explanation, including on correct answers — on integrated scenarios, arriving at the right answer through incomplete reasoning is a failure that a slightly different question will expose. Then spend real time in an environment: build a segmented network, write a policy-as-code check, configure identity federation, read logs from a system you deliberately misconfigured. The simulations reward familiarity with tooling, and familiarity does not come from reading.

Worth knowing: CompTIA recommends a substantial hands-on background before attempting this exam — a decade in IT with several years in security. That guideline is not decoration; the questions assume you have sat through governance debates, architecture reviews and incident bridges rather than merely studied them. The credential renews through continuing education or by passing a higher-level exam.

Knowledge from the intermediate security certifications should be second nature, because this exam builds directly on it.
