Description

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Every medicine on the market is watched, every day, by pharmacovigilance professionals — the people who collect adverse event reports, judge whether a drug caused harm, detect new safety signals in millions of records, and act before patients are hurt. Pharmacovigilance is one of the largest and most stable career fields in the pharmaceutical industry, and this course teaches you how it actually works, end to end.

You will start with the foundations: what pharmacovigilance is, the disasters that created it, and the definitions everything else depends on — adverse events, adverse reactions, seriousness, and SUSARs. Then you will go inside the global system: the FDA, EMA, Health Canada and MHRA, the ICH E2 guidelines, and the EU Good Pharmacovigilance Practices modules.

From there, the course becomes a working apprenticeship. You will follow an individual case safety report through intake, triage, MedDRA coding, seriousness and causality assessment, and narrative writing. You will learn aggregate reporting — PSURs, PBRERs, DSURs — and the 7-day and 15-day expedited reporting clocks that govern the industry. You will learn how signals are detected with disproportionality analysis, validated, prioritized, and turned into label changes, risk management plans, REMS, and additional monitoring.

The final sections cover the business of drug safety: the PSMF, the QPPV, audits and inspections, CAPA, vendor oversight, and where AI and automation genuinely help — inside safety databases like Argus and Veeva Vault Safety and in literature monitoring — and where they cannot replace human medical judgment. The course closes with a complete careers section: the roles, the employers, the CV keywords that get you shortlisted, the interview questions companies actually ask, and a 30-60-90 day plan for your first pharmacovigilance job.

No HTA, no filler — just the drug safety discipline as it is practiced in industry, taught in short, focused lectures.
