PSD I is the Scrum certification that catches people out, and the reason is simple: it is not a Scrum exam. It is a Scrum and software engineering exam. You can know the Scrum Guide cover to cover and still fail, because most of the assessment sits in the territory where the framework meets the codebase — test-driven development, continuous integration, refactoring, emergent design, and what "Done" actually means when quality is not negotiable.

Then there is the format. PSD I carries one of the highest passing thresholds in the entire Professional Scrum assessment family, paired with one of its tightest time budgets. The assessment is technically open book, but the clock makes that irrelevant — if you have to look something up, you have already lost the question. How to use this course

Read the Scrum Guide first — properly, not skimmed. Then sit the first test cold and timed. Do not pause it, do not look anything up, and accept that the score will sting. The explanations are the real course material, so read every one, including on questions you got right by luck. Where the gap is engineering practice rather than framework knowledge, go and do it in your own codebase: write the test first, break the build deliberately, refactor something ugly. Where the gap is Scrum, reread that section of the Guide. Repeat until you are clearing the pass bar comfortably with time to spare — then book it.

Worth knowing: PSD I does not expire and carries no renewal fee. Pass it once and it is yours permanently, which makes it one of the better-value credentials in the Agile space.
