Build practical OpenTelemetry understanding with 120 original questions from Cloudpuz Academy. Two different 60-question practice tests cover the four OpenTelemetry Certified Associate topic areas. Every question has four choices, one best answer, an explanation for every choice and an official documentation reference. Scenarios test configuration decisions, causal reasoning and interpretation of telemetry behavior.
The fundamentals section examines the purposes of traces, metrics and logs, together with the boundaries between instrumentation, collection and analysis. Distinguish Resources from instrumentation scopes, logical services from instances, and common transport from shared field meaning. Review semantic conventions, baggage, sampling bias and the context needed to investigate unfamiliar failures.
Tracing scenarios explore parent-child relationships, span links, events, attributes, status and lifecycle. Follow context injection and extraction across services and asynchronous work. Compare head sampling, parent-based decisions and tail selection. Understand why recording, sampling and successful delivery are separate concerns, and how batch processing and graceful flushing affect short-lived applications.
Metrics questions distinguish counters, signed additive quantities, callback observations, gauges and histograms. Interpret cumulative resets and delta intervals, reason about cardinality, and use Views to select dimensions or histogram aggregation. Log scenarios cover event and observation timestamps, severity normalization and structured bodies. Export configuration questions include precise OTLP/HTTP endpoint construction and transport compatibility.
Collector scenarios cover component definitions, service wiring, processing order, signal support, connectors and multiple destinations. Compare local agents and centralized gateways, coordinate scraping ownership, preserve trace affinity for stateful sampling and diagnose uneven connection distribution. Resilience questions address bounded retries, persistent queues and the practical limits of storage and downstream capacity.
Maintenance questions focus on evidence-based troubleshooting: compare accepted data with successful exports, isolate transformation stages, use small synthetic samples and distinguish health responses from complete delivery. Review propagation failures at proxies and queues, SDK self-diagnostics and controlled schema migration. Questions explain why metadata relabeling alone does not transform payload fields.
The CNCF and Linux Foundation OTCA outline was reviewed in November 2026. Each test contains 11 fundamentals, 27 API and SDK, 16 Collector and 6 maintenance questions, rounded to a 60-question allocation. Allow 90 minutes for each test. The 70 percent practice threshold is a study target, not an official result prediction. The bank received editorial and file-integrity review. Twenty-three selected behavior checks passed using the Python OpenTelemetry SDK 1.45.2 in memory; this does not claim a deployed Collector or backend integration test.
Basic familiarity with application development, HTTP, distributed services and configuration files will help. The course contains practice tests without video lessons or a hosted lab. Use the explanations and official references to investigate uncertain topics, and practice configurations in a separate learning environment. These are original supplementary questions, not real examination content. Cloudpuz Academy is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by CNCF, the Linux Foundation or the OpenTelemetry project. Completion does not guarantee certification; verify the current official requirements before booking an examination.
