Why the forecasts keep failing

I have sat through a lot of these talks, and I have given a few I am not proud of. The pattern is always the same: a slide of statistics, a claim that everything is about to change, and no method for telling a durable shift from a cyclical swing from pure hype. Meanwhile the actual change is happening in specific places — a screening step that an agent now handles, a role whose task mix quietly shifted, a team whose KPIs were never updated after 30% of the work moved. Those are the things worth your attention, and they are boring enough that nobody puts them on a keynote slide.

What this course actually covers

Five blocks. First, reading trends: the three classes of signal, the sources worth reading yourself, and the filter that decides whether something enters your plan at all. Second, AI and agents in real workflows — what they do well, how to break a role into tasks and decide what to hand over, and the decisions that must stay with a person. Third, the generation already in your building: what they expect, how hiring, onboarding and feedback need to change, and how to see a resignation coming. Fourth, workforce planning — demand forecasting, norming, optimisation, and the arithmetic that automation changes. Fifth, ten lessons on reskilling, because that is the only mechanism that turns a statistic about changing skills into a plan with a budget.

This is not a general futurology course.
